Grimstone Valley

3rd Person Action Horror Game

Graduate Program Project

Grimstone Valley is a third-person supernatural action game set in the wild west. When overreaching rail tycoons ally with a doomsday cult in a grab for power, the region of Grimstone Valley is beset by alien corruption. Cultists are granted grotesque new forms, monsters are summoned from beyond the pale, and sleepy frontier towns are torn asunder.

Myself and six other students are currently developing Grimstone Valley as part of Bradley University's graduate program for Game Design and Development. I'm the team's design lead, with my responsibilities including the design and implementation of player-side systems, overarching narrative design, and character and environmental writing.

I also create and maintain design documentation, lead design discussions, and layout design priorities & task assignment alongside our producer.

Wicked Wizards

4-Player Cooperative FPS

Undergraduate Capstone Project

Wicked Wizards is a cooperative first-person shooter in which the players take on the roles of evil wizards, employing an array of spells and magical towers to fight off the forces of good while they assemble an ancient, malevolent artifact.

I was one of two Design Leads on this project, overseeing a group of 8 designers on a team of over three dozen students.

My primary contributions on a personal level were in systems design and character writing. I designed the concepts for our character classes and their ability categories, iterating on our core gameplay throughout development as we made the initial prototype our own.

As a lead, much of my time was spent supervising and providing feedback on the work of my fellow designers, as well as collaborating with other leads and disciplines. I typically led design discussions, worked with our creative director to organize playtests and examine feedback, and maintained our documentation.

Out of Service

Branching Narrative FMV Game

Out of Service is a short interactive FMV about a group of college students that encounter outrageous obstacles while attempting to do their laundry on campus.

I was Out of Service's narrative lead, concepting the outline for the overall narrative and overseeing the writing team. I personally wrote many of the game's scenes and edited every script for tone, concision, and continuity across branching paths.

Out of Service was developed by 16 people over the course of 3 months for Bradley University's 2023 FUSE Showcase.
